A scholar of Chicano cultural theory, feminist theory, and queer theory, Anzaldúa was a guiding force around issues of identity, history, culture, and sexuality. Anzaldúa won many awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts Fiction Award and the Lambda Lesbian Small Press Book Award.
